We went to the Rod 'N' Reel because we were told the food was fresh and tasty. Not so much, we ordered fish and chips...undercooked. The mariners platter was overcooked. Our fish on the mariners platter was hard. All of the food was cold. Now could forgive them of the restaurant were busy...but it was dead, maybe five tables out of thirty. We told the waitresses about it and all she could say was "Oh I'm sorry". I was expecting her to say "But I was eating a milky way". Didn't call the manager over NOTHING...On the way out I stopped and spoke with the manager and she didn't seem to care either. Needless to say, we will never be eating there again.
Although I haven't been here in awhile, my recollections of this restaurant are top-tier. The view of the bay: spectacular. The ambience: lovely. The cuisine: as you'd expect from such a name, primarily sea food, though there are some other options. Overall: the kind of place you'd choose for special occasions.
This is the best restaurant in town! You must try there Sunday buffet! It is incredible.
Fresh and delicious fruits and food for Sat Breakfast Buffet! Great, low price! Full, delicious menu including 5 differnt wonderful waffles, The Best Omelets anywhere and lots more!! Plus excellent, attentive service! Loved Rod N Reel - I'll be back!
A delightful extra feature -- often overlooked: the historic little train museum on the same grounds, showing life in Chesapeake Beach and North Beach in the early 20th Century, when the towns drew crowds from Washington, DC, for summer getaways.
I come for Thanksgiving Buffet stay at hotel which is convenient across path to restaurant. Bring mother who is in wheelchair. They have handicapped rooms. I always feel safe even at 2am when bar and slots close. Everyone is friendly and especially helpful with my mom in the wheelchair. All personnel is friendly.
